lyrics

There was a dark star
With light that radiated out
and I was floating in the warm water
in a slow current

You were there on the
soft, slow embankment,
naked, your toes tangled in grass
around us the air floated
like rain in slow motion
and the earth was crumbling upward
in some strange annihilation

I called for you to jump
into the lucid black water
and hold onto me
there was a groan
as earth rent asunder,
cracking and heaving behind you

You could not imagine how the
waters would save us
but you jumped...

The dull splash of water
hit you and you glided along
as we both reached out
across heavy current
and clasped hands

And from all around
the hills and mountains
ramshackle houses
left their gravitation senses
and floated out into
the dark mass above

But still we floated slowly
in the water
navigating by the churning
warmth of the river
"What will replace this all?"
you said
as seashells and continents
came unstuck from the earth's crust

"Let's not rush," I said
"but enjoy this and wait
with wonder.

the dark star will do it's work."

The Shattered Grey Los Angeles, California

On nights like these
I chew upon
The thread of life
Until it's almost gone
Sweetest Nectar
laced with pain
I stay until
it's almost drained
